In the beginning, there was the web, and in the 1990’s, this meant open and instant access to a motley collection of websites with frequently static information. Bringing great order to this plethora of information was the search engine.
Fast forward to 2010 and we are now in the era of Web 2.0. Here, the web is characterized by massive interactivity. Content is king but unlike Web 1.0, is largely crowd-sourced. The search engine, led by Google, delivers relevant but algorithmic search data and it is being challenged by peer generated, rich content ala Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. Why Google ‘Bali holiday’ when you can direct this to your network on the Facebook wall.
This module reviews the latest developments in Web 2.0 with particular attention to leveraging off Web 2.0 tools to manage brands, tap new markets and build Followship.
